In honor of Lauren Conrad's two new books: Beauty, and Starstruck- book stores around the US are hosting events! Luckily, a local Barnes & Noble held a book signing last Wednesday, and of course I took advantage of the event and headed that way.
My copy of Lauren's new book with her signature inside
I got into line with my sister around 3:30 and we waited in line until 5:30 when they started handing out numbered wristbands, and luckily we were in the first 50 group so we knew it was guaranteed that we would meet her early! We ran out to get a quick dinner before arriving back to Barnes & Noble to get into another line where we patiently waited to meet her.
Shot's of Lauren while I was waiting in line
Lauren was rocking her signature wavy hair and a gorgeous cream-sicle colored Erin Fetherson dress that looked amazing on her skin tone! She was so sweet (even though we couldn't take a photo with her because of her signing policies) it was still amazing to have the chance to meet her!
Haven't heard about influenster yet? Have you been living under a rock? Well, I'm assuming you haven't been living there but I'll give you the scoop anyway. Influenster is a program to provides VoxBoxes to internet influensters. There are many different VoxBoxes available to different people, Beauty Bloggers, Brides, and Mommy-to-be's, but you have to be chosen by Influenster to receive the boxes, and I was lucky enough to receive the Fall Beauty Blogger VoxBox! Here's what came inside:
-NYC New York Color 'Dark Shadows' IndividualEyes Custom Compact: I haven't played around with creating a smokey eye, but I've used some of the shadows and primer individually, and they look great with brown eyes!
-Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit: I rarely wear false lashes (the last time I did was prom), so I haven't tried these out yet, but for the next occasion that comes up I will try them out!
-Bath & Body Works Mini 'Cider Lane' Candle: I love candles so I was really excited to get this! There were a ton of fall scents released and this wasn't one I initially liked, but after a few more sniffs it has grown on me and I love burning it! This also came with a coupon to save $10 on a 3-wick candle at Bath & Body Works which I used to buy a new winter candle!
-EBOOST Orange Boost: I'm really not a fan of flavored beverages, but my dad drinks these a lot so he will get this one!
-GoodySimple Styles Spin Pin- I have wanted to buy these since they came out, but never got around to purchasing it so I was so excited to get this! Hopefully I can do some testing with these soon! -Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Hair Cream-This smells so good and smoothes out your frizzes. Luckily, I don't have hair that frizzes easily so this just gives my hair a more polished appearance.
Please note: I did receive this item for free, but am not being compensated in anyway to share my opinions.
The east coast has been experiencing some seriously chilly weather in October so far. Although I can't wear any of my favorite sweaters to school (uniform!) I can always bundle up on dress-down Fridays and on the weekend. I love neutral shades for sweaters to pair with brighter bottoms and boots, but also an unexpected brighter hue for gloomy days.
I love pasta (who doesn't?), and bolognese sauce tucked into pockets of orecchiette really hits the spot accompanied by some veggies and bread. I had a difficult time finding crushed San Marzano tomatoes, but the recipe was very particular about using San Marzano, so I went on a hunt and was successful! This was super easy to make, and considering it was my first time making sauce from scratch- I don't think I did a bad job!
Zanna Robert's style is one I envy extremely. Robert's is the Senior Fashion Director at Marie Claire Magazine, so she has serious style. This look is perfect for fall, it mixes textures and layers to create a super laid back yet chic look.
